Steeples & Baptistries - History

Steeples & Baptistries are churches built in 18th century England. The first known church was a church built in the church of St. Mary's, in the vicinity of Swaffham, which was destroyed in the Great Fire of London. The rebuilt church is known as St. Mary's Church and was built by the then Prince of Wales. It stood until the rebuilt of St. Peter's in the same area.
Steeples and Baptistries became part of the Queen's Chapel. Queen Victoria valued it so much that she had it rebuilt into a magnificent edifice. It has been admired by many famous personalities of the time such as the poet John Keats. Queen Victoria loved the structure so much that it was even listed in the Register of Historic Buildings. Today, it is listed as Grade I Heritage Centre and is open to the public.
